FBI cuts ribbon on new KC field office
The FBI unveiled its newly minted field office in Kansas City, Missouri, during a ribbon-cutting ceremony April 3, 2024. The event marked a significant milestone for the agency’s commitment to serving the Heartland Region.
On May 17, 2022, a groundbreaking ceremony officially initiated the project’s development. GSA played a pivotal role, securing a lease for 136,910 square feet of prime space for the next two decades, valued at over $102 million, in accordance with its mission to acquire space efficiently.
Representing GSA at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Acting PBS Regional Commissioner David Rumsey, underscored the collaborative effort required to bring such a monumental project to fruition. He highlighted the contributions of various agencies, including US Federal Properties, the city of Kansas City, Missouri, and the Aviation Department, alongside architectural firm Hoefer Welker Architects, construction company McCown-Gordon Construction, and other design partners.
In his remarks, Rumsey expressed gratitude to the dedicated GSA team, singling out Project Manager Steve Stanberry and Contracting Officer Joe Schurle for their exemplary support throughout the duration of the project.
The newly opened FBI field office stands as a testament to the power of partnership and collective endeavor, poised to enhance the agency’s operational capabilities and service to the community. The new field office is located at 11180 NW Prairie View Rd in the Northland near the Kansas City International Airport.
