GSA Taps Racial and Economic Justice Expert to Lead Agency in New Role Focused on Equity
WASHINGTON — In invigorating the conversation around Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) throughout the mission critical work at GSA, the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has appointed Andrea M. O’Neal as the Senior Advisor to the Administrator on Equity. This position is a historic first at GSA and reaffirms GSA’s commitment to supporting equity across government.
“I am thrilled to have Andrea join GSA as Senior Advisor for Equity. With her leadership and experience, we will build on our existing efforts and continue to advance diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility throughout GSA’s policies, practices, and programs,” said Acting Administrator Katy Kale.
O’Neal brings to GSA an interdisciplinary and multisector acumen with 20 years of experience in equity and racial justice, diverse workforce development and economic advancement, program design and delivery, and expertise in organizational behavior and cultural change. Andrea is a recognized thought leader in the equity field, having served as a research advisory member of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Equitable Futures Project and, more recently, as a task force member for Brown University’s Presidential Task Force on Anti-Black Racism.
Her time identifying institutional barriers to employment, studying racial wealth gaps, and founding a practice focused on training corporate leaders in racial equity makes O’Neal a highly qualified team member for this new role.
