GSA Holds Fourth Meeting with Local Community in Early Stages of BOTA Land Port of Entry Modernization Project

El Paso, Texas -  Last night, the General Services Administration (GSA) held its fourth community engagement meeting for the Land Port of Entry (LPOE) modernization project at the Bridge of the Americas (BOTA) in El Paso.   During last night’s meeting, GSA presented various alternatives under consideration, shared project schedules and goals, provided information about small and disadvantaged business contracting opportunities, provided an opportunity for the public to share comments, and more.

The next step in the planning process is the NEPA/Environmental studies, which is currently expected to be completed around October 2024.  The studies will be used to further evaluate the alternatives and identify any environmental concerns prior to moving forward on project alternatives.

The LPOE modernization project at the BOTA includes a new administration building, new pedestrian processing lanes, new primary building, new passenger vehicle lanes, and new commercial vehicle inspection area.  The project will be designed in a way that will help improve traffic flow and decrease wait times for travelers while also improving border security.  The project only includes work at the LPOE and does not include work on the actual bridge.
