Federal Regulatory Information is now at your fingertips! Introducing the RegInfo.gov Mobile App
GSA is proud to be at the forefront when it comes to Making It Easier to engage with government. One of our latest initiatives is the first-ever mobile app for RegInfo.gov, a tool that increases the transparency of the federal regulatory process and makes it possible to have the latest information about upcoming federal forms and regulations at your fingertips.
Available for both Android and iOS devices, this new app is the result of a collaboration between the Regulatory Information Service Center (RISC), part of GSA’s Office of Governmentwide Policy and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB ). This new app means you no longer need to be at a computer to keep up with the federal rulemaking process or information collection requests. Instead, use the Reginfo app to get the latest info on every important federal rule, whether it is currently in the planning stages, soon-to-be enacted, or still under review by OMB’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA).
This was not the first time GSA’s RISC and OIRA have worked together. Over the years, RISC has created, upgraded and now maintains OIRA’s computer systems and databases for regulatory reviews and paperwork approvals. For this project, the RISC technical team partnered with OIRA from start to finish: from identifying all the requirements to developing and launching the app.
The Reginfo.gov app is simple to use, whether you’re on a phone or tablet. Click on “Regulatory Review” and you have the option of viewing all federal regulations currently pending review, or the reviews recently concluded. Drill down and you can filter your search by agency, or go deeper to find a calendar of meetings, attendees and any documents that were exchanged during the review. And, only available on the Reginfo.gov app is a new Timeline Chart providing an interactive visualization of important rulemaking milestones, such as when proposed and final regulations are published and when OIRA reviews draft regulations and related information collections.
From the home screen, you can also get information about information collections subject to the Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) and find the current “Unified Agenda” for each federal agency. That’s where you’ll find the mission statement for each agency, along with details of the most important significant regulatory actions that agencies expect to take in the coming year.
The new Reginfo.gov app also makes it easy to keep up with changes to regulations of interest to you – just subscribe and you’ll receive notifications whenever there’s an update to a regulation.
Download the app from Apple or for Android. This is just the first version of RegInfo Mobile – it will be updated based on customer feedback and use.
GSA’s RISC was created in 1981 to facilitate the development of, and access to, information about federal regulatory and deregulatory activities. The office supports OMB (and 65 other federal agencies) on a variety of high quality products and services. More information about RISC can be found on the Office of Government-Wide Policy site.
