GSA awards $2.5 Million for Project Development Study for the Alcan Land Port of Entry modernization and expansion project

TACOMA, Wash. ㅡ The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has awarded a contract for a project development study for the Alcan Land Port of Entry near Tok, Alaska.

Funded through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, GSA awarded the $2,483,057 contract to HDR Engineering Inc., for a pre-design project development study. HDR Engineering Inc. will assist GSA in developing a schedule and plan for the modernization and expansion of the Alcan land port of entry.

The Alcan land port expansion project will enhance the port’s operational efficiency and capability, providing new, modern and energy efficient facilities to house port operations and processing functions. This project will help strengthen the supply chain, create good-paying jobs, enhance safety and security, and serve as a model of sustainability. When completed, the project will provide for the efficient flow of current and projected traffic volumes.

Construction on the Alcan project is currently scheduled to begin in early 2026, with completion in January 2029.

This announcement is part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda in growing the American economy from the bottom up and middle-out – from rebuilding our nation’s infrastructure, to creating a manufacturing and innovation boom powered by good-paying jobs, to building a clean-energy economy that will combat climate change and make our communities more resilient.
