GSA Publishes Final Environmental Impact Statement for Grand Portage Land Port of Entry

CHICAGO – Today, the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) announced the availability of the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) for the modernization and expansion of the Land Port of Entry in Grand Portage, Minnesota.

This FEIS examines the impacts on the human, natural, and cultural environments from potential improvements at the Land Port of Entry, including site expansion, demolition and new construction.

The purpose of the proposed action examined in the FEIS is for GSA to support the mission of federal inspection agencies. The existing Land Port of Entry does not meet current requirements, and does not allow for expeditious and safe inspection of the traveling public.

GSA will issue a Record of Decision at the end of a 30-day wait period, which will conclude the National Environmental Policy Act process.

The FEIS notice is published in the Federal Register and is available on the project website.

Public comments on the FEIS are due by June 8, 2025, and should be directed to:

  • Email: matthew.heiman@gsa.gov. Include “Grand Portage LPOE Final EIS” in the subject line of the message.
