- Services that directly address environmental issues, such as waste management or energy metering services.
- Construction or service contracts where sustainable products are delivered, furnished for government use, incorporated into the construction of a public building or public work, or acquired by the contractor for use in performing services under a government contract where the cost of the products is a direct cost to a government contract.

Federal Acquisition Regulation
According to FAR Part 23, service contracts must require the use or supply of sustainable products covered by certain federal environmental programs, when applicable. Sustainable products include energy efficient, recycled content, water efficient, bio-based, and other environmentally preferable products.

- Energy Savings Performance Contract ENABLE: This program allows a standardized and streamlined procurement process for small federal projects to install energy conservation measures in six months or less.
