Erica S. Beardsley
Judge Erica S. Beardsley became Chair of the Civilian Board of Contract Appealson June 1, 2021.
As a member of the Civilian Board of Contract Appeals (CBCA) , Judge Beardsley manages cases, conducts hearings, issues opinions and orders, and serves as a neutral in alternative dispute resolution proceedings. As Chair, she is additionally responsible for management of the tribunal itself.
Before her appointment as Chair of the CBCA, Judge Beardsley served as Vice Chair of the CBCA beginning October 1, 2017. She became a member of the CBCA on May 29, 2016 after having served as a trial attorney at the U.S. Army Legal Services Agency, Contract and Fiscal Law Division from 2010–2016.
In her previous positions, Judge Beardsley served as Board Editor of the William and Mary Law Review; as a law clerk to Hon. James E. Bradberry, Magistrate Judge, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia in 1995–1996; and as an associate and then partner at Watt, Tieder, Hoffar & Fitzgerald, LLP from 1996-2010.
The CBCA is an independent tribunal housed within the General Services Administration. The CBCA’s principal mission is to hear and decide contract disputes between government contractors and civilian agencies of the federal government under the Contract Disputes Act. In addition, the Board provides alternative dispute resolution services for government contracts and other matters involving federal agencies.
Judge Beardsley holds a law degree from the William and Mary Law School and a bachelor’s degree from University of Virginia. She is a member of the bars of Virginia and District of Columbia.
