NCR Hosts Successful Small Business Resource Day
Over 100 people attended the National Capital Region (NCR) Small Business Resource Day on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at the Regional Office Building in Washington, D.C. The NCR Small Business Resource event was a day dedicated to outreach and education. The agenda provided networking opportunities and educational workshops with the General Services Administration (GSA) and other federal agencies.
NCR Regional Administrator, Scott Anderson, delivered welcome remarks to the attendees to kick off the event. NCR Public Building Service (PBS) Regional Commissioner, Darren Blue, and NCR Federal Acquisition Service Regional Commissioner, Houston Taylor, also greeted the attendees to the regional event. A panel discussion followed and included representatives from the Architect of the Capitol, Department of Homeland Security, The Veterans Administration and the U.S. Coast Guard. The panel discussed current and forecasted projects as well as small business best practices.
GSA employees conducted two GSA Schedules workshops and the Small Business Administration Program Director, Amy Kim, presented on Women Owned Small Business engagement. Additional workshops for Small Disadvantaged Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and Secret / Top Secret Clearance were provided by both the Veterans Administration Director for SDVOSB and the Department of Defense, Defense Security Service.
Speaking about the importance and success of the event, Anderson said that the NCR Office of Small Business Utilization created an event that “highlighted GSA’s partnerships with small businesses who represent a solid link in the chain of our mission success. In lockstep with the agency’s mandate to provide the best service to our federal agency customers, it was an honor to facilitate a continuing discussion on improving our work with our small business partners.”
