Sale features 7.85 Bitcoin for ‘End of Season’ sale event

ATLANTA — Today the U.S. General Services Administration’s End of Season sale opens on GSA Auctions, featuring eight lots of cryptocurrency totaling 7.85 bitcoins with an estimated market value of more than $360,000.

Auction open: Monday, Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. CT

Auction close: Wednesday, Sept. 15 (may be extended)

This two-day auction’s closing time may be extended to accommodate last-minute bidding.

GSA first began auctioning cryptocurrency on behalf of the U.S. government in early 2021. To date, users of the GSAAuctions platform have successfully bid for a total of over 25 bitcoin and 150 litecoin, with a total estimated value of more than $1 million.

We’ve seen great success and enthusiasm for GSA’s cryptocurrency sales in 2021 so far,” said GSA Federal Acquisition Service Regional Commissioner Thomas Meiron. “This is the last auction for the year and is a great opportunity to join the crypto community.”

The winning bidder will need a digital wallet to receive the property. Network transaction fees may apply, and payment is due Sept. 17. As there is no tangible asset up for bid, GSA will not hold an inspection day.
