Christin Gurgo joins Region 6 FAS CASE team

Christin Gurgo joined the Region 6 FAS Customer and Stakeholder Engagement Division as a supervisory business development specialist Feb. 13.

She took over the position previously held by Dana Fairley, who became the FAS national event manager in December 2021. In this role she is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating regional business development activities and co-managing the facilities and construction government-wide purchasing category.

Prior to joining Region 6, Gurgo served as a national account manager and a customer service director in Region 1.

What do you look forward to most about this change?

I am eager to grow into my supervisory role as it comes with new challenges and responsibilities, and also to learn all there is with regards to the government-wide category for facilities and construction — and category management as a whole. Changing roles is important for career growth on a personal level, but is equally as important to the growth of an organization by bringing different ways of doing and thinking to the table. It also enhances one’s understanding of the organizational culture. 

How do you think your previous experience has prepared you for the new role? 

In my previous roles I was given the opportunity to think and work creatively and innovatively when approaching key stakeholders, customers, and requirements. Some of the experiences that have helped prepare for my new role are: 

  • Learning how to successfully cross collaborate with various entities comprising GSA.
  • Managing business-capture opportunities.
  • Conducting progress reviews with collaborative teams.
  • Initiating customer engagements.

Anything else you’d like to share? 

I have served as a program manager and contracting officer representative at Hanscom Air Force Base for more than 15 years — working mostly in classified programs. I moved to GSA Region 1 serving as a customer service director, then served as a national account manager for the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force prior to moving over to Region 6.
