ADVISORY: GSA Deputy Administrator, DOI Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary to Speak at Ribbon Cutting Events at the Denver Federal Center 

LAKEWOOD, Colo. ㅡ On Thursday, September 12, 2024, Deputy Administrator Katy Kale of the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) and Joan Mooney, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy Management and Budget for the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI), will preside at the grand opening of Building 48 and Building 53 on the Denver Federal Center (DFC). Also speaking will be Cara Carmichael from the White Council on Environmental Quality.

These events will showcase the long-term strategy in consolidating DOI offices on the DFC while promoting the administration’s leadership in decarbonizing the federal footprint and making federal buildings more energy efficient while saving taxpayer dollars.

Who: Katy Kale, GSA Deputy Administrator; Joan Mooney, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy Management and Budget for the U.S. Department of the Interior; Cara Carmichael, Director for Federal Buildings, White House Council on Environmental Quality. 

What: Grand opening of net zero energy, net zero carbon at Building 48 and completion of major renovations at Building 53. 

Where: Denver Federal Center, Lakewood, Colorado

When: Two events with different start times

  • Building 48 event starts at 10 a.m.  Remarks and b-roll opportunity. Please arrive at 9:30 a.m. MDT for check in. 
  • Building 53 event starts at 1:30 p.m. Remarks and b-roll opportunity. Please arrive at 1:00 p.m. MDT for check in.

Attending media should enter the DFC at Gate 1 located at Kipling St. and W. Alameda Ave. Please have press credentials and valid government issued identification available to enter the gate. Also, be prepared to show proof of insurance for your vehicle. Plan for 15-20 additional minutes to allow for time to get through gate security. Media can park in the lot at the corner of Fourth Street and Fifth Street, just south of Building 48. See attached map of the campus.
