Front Street Temporarily Closed for GSA Construction Project

Vehicle and pedestrian traffic will detour on November 16

 

SAN DIEGO –

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) will temporarily close all lanes of Front Street between Broadway and F Street to remove scaffolding on the exterior façade of the Edward J. Schwartz Federal Office Building (Schwartz FOB) on November 16, 2019. The work will occur above vehicle lanes which pass beneath a portion of the building on Front Street. Sidewalks on Front Street in the affected area will also be closed to pedestrian traffic. During this time, a crane will also install a new generator on the roof of the building. 

To transition vehicles off Front Street, GSA will detour traffic from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., on November 16, 2019:

  • Southbound traffic on Front Street detours at Broadway to State Street (to the west) for one block before routing back onto F Street for continued southbound travel on Front Street.

Travelers are advised to plan ahead for potential delays, monitor media traffic reports and adhere to posted signage.
