GSA Announces Temporary Closure of Front Street at Federal Plaza

Vehicle, Pedestrian Traffic will be detoured until further notice

SAN DIEGO — Effective immediately, the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) announces the closure of all vehicle lanes and pedestrian walkways on Front Street between Broadway and West F Street at the Edward J. Schwartz Federal Office Building (FOB) in San Diego. Vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be detoured until further notice.

This vehicle lanes and sidewalk closure is required so that GSA can further assess damage to the building following a minor single-vehicle accident involving a commercial truck transporting a craned vehicle through the underpass. Once GSA has assessed the damage and repairs have been made the roadway and pedestrian walkways will be reopened to traffic. Until then, vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be detoured to avoid this area.

What: Closure of all vehicle lanes and pedestrian sidewalks on Front Street at the Federal Plaza
Where: Front Street between Broadway and F Street at the Schwartz FOB
When: Thursday, August 26, 2021

Temporary vehicle and pedestrian barriers are now in place to close the street, sidewalks and crosswalk on Front Street between E and F Streets, and will remain in place until further notice. Vehicle operating and pedestrians walking near the construction site are advised to plan ahead and adhere to temporary barriers and forthcoming detour signage.
