New Southbound Pedestrian Plaza Opens at San Ysidro Land Port of Entry

Phase 2 construction offers enhancements for travelers entering Mexico

SAN YSIDRO, Calif. —

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) announces the opening of a portion of a newly constructed southbound pedestrian plaza on the east side of the San Ysidro Land Port of Entry (LPOE), on Monday, April 15, 2019, at 8 a.m. The plaza is part of ongoing construction to modernize and expand the San Ysidro LPOE.

WHAT: The opening of the plaza reroutes southbound pedestrians onto a pathway that leads to a crossing point with Mexico. Pedestrians will now walk directly from the trolley plaza south into Mexico. Directional signage will be in place.

WHERE: Located on the southeast side of the recently opened PedEast facility, the plaza is immediately south of the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) trolley and bus station.

WHEN: Monday, April 15, 2019, at 8:00 a.m.

Note: In addition to the new plaza on the east side of the San Ysidro LPOE, southbound pedestrians will continue to have the option of crossing through PedWest, located on the west side of the port and adjacent to the MTS Virginia Avenue Transit Center.
