Temporary Northbound Vehicle Lane Closures at the Andrade Port of Entry

Repair work is urgently needed due to Hurricane Hilary damage

SAN FRANCISCO — The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) announces a temporary lane closure affecting northbound privately owned vehicle (POV) inspection lanes at the Andrade Land Port of Entry (LPOE) in Winterhaven, Calif. The work will require the temporary closure of two of the three northbound vehicle lanes Monday, September 11 - Wednesday September 13, 2023. The temporary lane closures are necessary to perform urgent repairs to the roadway caused by the excessive rains associated with Hurricane Hilary. Drivers should anticipate possible delays, monitor traffic signs, and reduce speeds near and around the construction work area.

What’s Happening

What: A temporary closure of two lanes impacting northbound vehicle inspection

Where: Northbound privately owned vehicle inspection lanes at the Andrade LPOE

When: Monday, Sept. 11 - Wednesday, Sept. 13

Andrade LPOE is the easternmost port serving pedestrians and POVs entering California, United States from Mexico. The asphalt surfaces at the Andrade LPOE suffer from cracks, potholes, and erosion from the hundreds of vehicles that cross every day. During the recent rainstorms associated with Hurricane Hilary, the potholes and other damaged areas expanded, creating an immediate need for repair. Concrete will be used to fill in the potholes and gaps, enhancing the safety of the roadway for the traveling public.

GSA is responsible for constructing and maintaining LPOEs along the nation’s borders in partnership with and support of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security - Customs and Border Protection and other federal inspection agencies.
