Mr. Dan Brown currently serves as the acting Pacific Rim Regional Administrator and Regional Commissioner of the Public Buildings Service. As acting Regional Administrator, he leads a workforce across California, Nevada, Arizona and Hawaii, as well as in Japan, and the U.S. territories of Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Headquartered in San Francisco, California, the Pacific Rim Region is one of GSA’s largest and diverse federal real estate inventories in terms of scope, complexity, and income production. In fiscal year 2024, Region 9 realized $1.34 billion in annual revenue with an operating budget of $286 million; a new construction capital program of $2.4 billion; a major repair and alteration budget of $34 million and a leasing budget of $670 million. Mr. Brown oversees border improvements in delivery of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, with four major Land Ports of Entry (LPOE) projects currently underway in California and Arizona at the Calexico West, San Luis I, new Douglas Commercial and Raul Hector Castro LPOEs. Over $1 billion in active construction projects. Across the region, Mr. Brown has helped bring more efficient use of space for multiple federal agencies by consolidating space from leases into federal buildings. In fiscal year 2024, the region generated $467.6 million in lease cost avoidance and savings for the taxpayer. The largest consolidation supported the sale of the Chet Holifield Federal Building resulting in $348.6 million in cost avoidance and sale proceeds of $177 million.
Prior to joining the Pacific Rim Region, Mr. Brown held GSA leadership roles in Regions 6, 10 and at GSA Headquarters. As Western Zone Executive responsible for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, he coordinated $1.4 billion in construction projects in an aggressive two-year timeframe across three regions. Mr. Brown has been active throughout his career with local communities and stakeholders.
He graduated from the University of Kansas at the top of his class with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering and belongs to the Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society.
