GSA Awards Construction Contract for the Land Port of Entry in Highgate Springs, Vermont

BOSTON – Today, the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) announced the award of a Construction Manager as Constructor contract for the Land Port of Entry project at Highgate Springs, Vermont. As part of a substantial $186 million construction initiative aimed at putting America first and improving our border security, President Trump’s GSA has awarded $1,545,000 to a joint venture of two American companies, Pike Construction Services, Inc. of Rochester, NY, and DEW Construction Corporation of Williston, VT, for preliminary pre-construction services.

‘The modernization of the Highgate Springs Land Port of Entry represents GSA’s commitment to border security, efficient trade, and improving the experience for both travelers and border enforcement personnel,” said Public Buildings Service Commissioner Michael Peters. “The new port design will meet the federal government’s mission requirements, improve officer safety, respond to the needs of the traveling public, incorporate additional border security measures, and permit the installation of improved technologies.”

Under this phase of the contract, the joint venture will provide constructability reviews, cost estimating and reconciliation services, schedule analysis, and construction work sequencing and phasing plans.

The Highgate Springs port is one of the three busiest ports in New England, processing roughly 96,000 commercial vehicles, 2,500 buses and 480,000 non-commercial vehicles per year. With the expansion of Canada’s Autoroute A-35, traffic through the port is expected to increase by 30%.

Construction on the project is anticipated to start during the summer of 2026, with substantial completion scheduled for the summer of 2029.
