Improved Border Security Coming to Rouses Point

GSA awards Land Port of Entry construction contract to modernize facilities, improve security, and enhance inspection operations

NEW YORK — Today, the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) announced the award of a construction contract for the Land Port of Entry project at Rouses Point, New York. The award, valued at $47.7 million, was made to New York-based Murnane Building Contractors, Inc. as part of the Administration’s priority to put America first and improve the Nation’s border security.

The project at Rouses Point replaces the existing port, which is located approximately a half-mile south of the border. The new port will improve border security and Federal inspection operations.

When completed, the new port will be one of a limited number of international rail passenger crossing points in the U.S. It is the only crossing where rail inspections are performed in the same location as pedestrian and vehicular traffic inspections.

“This significant investment in the Rouses Point Land Port of Entry reinforces the Administration’s commitment to strengthening border security and supporting the local community,” said GSA Acting Administrator Michael Rigas. “The modernized facility will enhance Federal inspection operations and improve port safety, while creating jobs and opportunities for New York businesses during the construction phase.”

Construction on the project is anticipated to start this fall, with substantial completion planned for late 2027.
