Welcome to the National Capital Region (NCR) of the U.S. General Services Administration, where our team is dedicated to providing superior support to the federal government in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. NCR is responsible for supporting the workplace needs through the acquisition of office space, equipment, telecommunications and information technology.
NCR’s Public Buildings Service (PBS) employees manage, build, construct and lease approximately 92 million square feet of federal workspace. This portfolio comprises 47 million square feet of owned space, and 44 million square feet of leased space. PBS oversees a variety of construction projects for headquarters for cabinet-level executive branch departments, headquarters of independent agencies, and even the White House. Inherently, PBS NCR continues to be a worldwide force for innovation in commercial real estate.
NCR is currently working on many new projects. A new Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Headquarters is underway at the St. Elizabeths West Campus in Washington, D.C. The region is also focusing on several infrastructure improvements using low-embodied carbon construction materials to make federal facilities more sustainable and cost- efficient.
