Located in the central business district of Eau Claire, the three-story Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse was built in 1909 in the Neo-Classical style of architecture and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Parking is available onsite, while public transportation is available via Eau Claire Transit.
The building’s major tenants include U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin and the U.S. District Court, Bankruptcy Court, Probation, and Marshals Service. The building also houses a Small Business Administration office.
Recent projects have included the installation of a sprinkler system, renovation of the accessibility ramp, and replacement of the chiller for the building’s heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system.
The exterior of the courthouse is constructed of masonry, stone, concrete panels, and a slate roof. The building is framed by steel columns, supported by exterior masonry walls.

When a military installation or Government - related facility(whether or not specifically named) is located partially within more than one city or county boundary, the applicable per diem rate for the entire installation or facility is the higher of the rates which apply to the cities and / or counties, even though part(s) of such activities may be located outside the defined per diem locality.
