U.S. General Services Administration Seeks Public Input on the
Mike Mansfield Seismic Retrofit and Limited Modernization Project

The agency will host a virtual civic engagement meeting

BUTTE, Mont. –  The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) will host a virtual civic engagement meeting to solicit public input on the proposed Seismic Retrofit and Limited Modernization Project at the Mike Mansfield Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse.

Interested persons are encouraged to attend and participate in this virtual meeting on Aug. 1, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. MST via Zoom. Please follow this hyperlink to join: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/89131142113 .

The proposed project would include seismic upgrades; façade and other historic preservation repairs; replacement of building heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems; improved accessibility; upgrades to building pipe systems; installation of low-profile solar panels on a new roof; and potentially the incorporation of a geothermal heat pump system, among other improvements.

Funding from the Inflation Reduction Act would be used to support the improvements, including the use of low-embodied carbon materials such as concrete, glass and steel, as well as emerging and sustainable technologies. These materials and technologies aim to reduce energy consumption and eliminate operational greenhouse gas emissions to enable the facility to run on all-electric power.

The virtual meeting will include a presentation and a question-and-answer session. The presentation will offer the public an opportunity to hear more about the proposed project and learn how they can provide input on the issues that are important to them and their community.
Public comments may be submitted electronically to steven.janzen@gsa.gov. Please ensure the subject line of the email reads: Mansfield Seismic Project. Public comments concerning the proposed project are due by Aug. 31, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. MST
