Jason L. Shelton was appointed Regional Administrator for the U.S. General Services Administration’s Greater Southwest Region on January 3, 2023.
As Regional Administrator, he leads a workforce in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. Mr. Shelton is focused on advancing GSA’s mission by further building relationships with key stakeholders in the region and amplifying the great work GSA does across the country.
Mr. Shelton is the former mayor of Tupelo, Mississippi. In his two terms as mayor (2013-2021), he led city operations of 500 full-time and 900 part-time employees in support of Tupelo’s 38,000 residents, with a combined budget of $180 million.
As mayor, Mr. Shelton received regional and national recognition for steady leadership during multiple crises and natural disasters. He established a record of success in economic development and community revitalization, travel and tourism promotion, racial reconciliation and police reform, public transportation and infrastructure, and innovation in government. During his tenure, Tupelo received the All-America Award City Designation from the National Civic League and other awards.
Prior to serving as Tupelo’s mayor, Mr. Shelton owned and managed a general practice law firm with about 30 employees. He is married to Jessica Wallace Shelton, a nurse practitioner. They have one son, William.
