The John Joseph Moakley United States Courthouse is located in Boston’s waterfront Seaport District on Fan Pier and situated along Boston’s Harborwalk. Completed in 1998, it serves as the headquarters for the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. It was named after John Joseph Moakley, a Representative for Massachusetts’ 9th congressional district from 1973-2001.
Public Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. (except federal holidays)
Public Access: Screening at the main entrance. Identification is required.
Amenities: Public art galleries are located throughout the courthouse - the main lobby and grand rotunda, main floor Atrium, upper galleries on the 3rd, 5th, and 7th floors, and lower galleries at the Harbor entrance, Hanscom Federal Credit Union, Fleet Dry Cleaning, Harbor Park Cafe
