Reduce up-front costs
Our Furniture and Information Technology Program, known as the FIT Program, to help you design efficient spaces at lower costs.
We select products and equipment to:
- Create a place where people want to work.
- Encourage and support collaboration.
- Improve productivity.
- Improve space utilization.
- Produce energy and carbon savings.
You can lease furniture and IT assets with no interest as an alternative to purchasing them, which requires an up-front lump sum payment.

Qualifying for the FIT Program
Your project estimate must be at least $1 million for IT and $350,000 for furniture to use this program.
For IT assets, your project must be located in the National Capital Region.
Mandatory requirements
- The total requirement must comply with either:
- Your agency’s utilization rate policy.
- 100-150 usable square feet for total office and 170 USF for the total requirement.
- Private offices and enclosed rooms must be located on the interior as design allows.
- Furniture panels must be no taller than 54 inches to maximize natural light.
- Open workstations must not exceed 50 SF.
- Offices should have 80-150 SF.
- Your contracting officer’s representative must perform project management and custodial activities for the FIT Program term.
- Your COR must provide us a training completion certificate.
Design criteria
Your project or agency must comply with a minimum of six of the following criteria:
- Reduce the number of enclosed offices with at least a 1:8 office-to-workstation ratio.
- Use glass walls instead of solid walls where appropriate.
- Create more open, interactive, free-flowing space to encourage collaboration.
- Analyze work patterns and job duties to determine appropriate workstation size.
- Incorporate overall acoustical treatments and visual privacy in open work environments.
- Offer a variety of reduced-noise spaces such as phone rooms, quiet spaces, and focus rooms.
- Maximize space utilization with desk-sharing.
- Use a reservation system to share meeting spaces.
- Offer a telework program.

Furniture vendors
We have a blanket purchase agreement contract with vendors for the following office equipment:
- Three vendors for workplace furniture
- One small business vendor for seating
- One small business vendor for high-density filing and storage

Our program does not cover software licenses, extended warranties, stand-alone wiring, or technical advisory services.
FIT Program funding availability
Until fiscal year 2028, we have $16 million a year allocated to the program. These funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis with some exceptions for compelling business cases and specific customer needs.
