Seismic and structural engineering

We collaborate with private standard-setting organizations, code bodies, and professional associations to manage the development of national policies and standards for seismic/structural safety in federal buildings. We also:

• Engage consultants through Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity contracts to conduct seismic studies and manage the performance of those studies.
• Partner with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Interagency Committee on Seismic Safety in Construction and participate in seismic meetings and conferences.
• Manage the Seismic Rapid Response Team including training and supplies.
• Monitor and manage GSA’s federally leased facilities for seismic compliance.
• Release memos on code changes, new technology, training, and emerging seismic issues.
• Manage the RP8 seismicity exemption map [PDF - 1 MB].
