Before the hackathon
Two days before the hackathon
- Review the co-sponsors’ tools and materials for the hackathon online.
- Please visit each of the federal websites and start thinking about how you might address their challenges.
- If you have not received a Slack workspace invitation email, contact us at hackathon@gsa.gov.
- Registration is closed. You may not add or change team members.
Day of the hackathon
- Hackathon participants will be randomly assigned to work on one federal website to hack from a list of five.
- Web assignments will be announced at the event at approximately 9:30 a.m. EDT.
- If you have registered but decide not to attend, please contact us at hackathon@gsa.gov so that we may offer your spot to someone on the waitlist.
How you can prepare
- Brush up on what it takes to optimize a website for AI consumption.
- Familiarize yourself with the websites — on the morning of the hackathon, you will be assigned to work on only one website.
- Review all co-sponsor materials as you receive them.
- Join the event’s Slack workspace and submit your questions to co-sponsors and organizers. If you need an invitation to the Slack workspace contact us at hackathon@gsa.gov.
- Read the official rules and digitally sign your waiver form (sent to you by email).
What to bring
- Your laptop and any peripherals you may need. Please ensure your laptop has a working webcam and microphone, since you may have to present to remote judges. Event organizers will not provide any equipment.
- Headphones with a microphone (and backup headphones).
- Lunch. Unfortunately, the government is not able to provide food or beverages on-site. We will make arrangements for you to leave the building or pick up food during the day if needed.
- Government-issued photo identification.
Venue information
- Please allow ample time to clear security in the morning; it may take up to 45 minutes to gain entry due to the hackathon crowd.
- Building escorts are required at all times. You may not leave the designated hackathon areas without an escort.
- You must follow all building security requirements and instructions.
