The FACA 101 course is currently unavailable. Further updates will be posted here.
The FACA 201 course is intended for Federal officials directly involved in managing Federal advisory committees, FACA and ethics legal staff, FACA support staff, and managers and decision makers involved in advisory committee management and/or operations.
The FACA Management Training course curriculum consists of intensive interactive instruction in the origins of, the legal basis for, and the organizational, management and public environment involved in, the creation, operation, and maintenance of Federal advisory committees by executive branch departments and agencies. Originally designed as an in-person training, the training is now being offered virtually with select in-person sessions each year.
This FACA course is designed to provide a working knowledge of the prescribed laws, rules, and regulations governing the various processes and procedures involved in authorizing, establishing, chartering, operating, and terminating advisory committees. The course is taught by an interagency team of FACA subject matter experts who also engage students with their own FACA experiences and best practices. Class size is limited to no more than 40 students per class. There is no fee for this course.

The FACA management training classes will be held virtually except for the July 2025 Session. See details below.
Duration: The training class is three half days, starting at 12:00 p.m. daily, and ending at 4:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
Students planning to take this course are encouraged to visit Secretariat’s Advice and Guidance to find links to various documents and background materials that will aid in preparation, and make the class that much more relevant. Students are also urged to visit Secretariat’s Legislation and Regulation and familiarize themselves with the FACA statute and the FACA Final Rule.

The FACA training courses are fundamental courses that can be taken by anyone with a .gov or .mil e-mail address, and are highly recommended for Federal officials who need a basic understanding of FACA or are interested in learning more about FACA.

Traveler reimbursement is based on the location of the work activities and not the accommodations, unless lodging is not available at the work activity, then the agency may authorize the rate where lodging is obtained.
Unless otherwise specified, the per diem locality is defined as "all locations within, or entirely surrounded by, the corporate limits of the key city, including independent entities located within those boundaries."
Per diem localities with county definitions shall include"all locations within, or entirely surrounded by, the corporate limits of the key city as well as the boundaries of the listed counties, including independent entities located within the boundaries of the key city and the listed counties (unless otherwise listed separately)."
When a military installation or Government - related facility(whether or not specifically named) is located partially within more than one city or county boundary, the applicable per diem rate for the entire installation or facility is the higher of the rates which apply to the cities and / or counties, even though part(s) of such activities may be located outside the defined per diem locality.
