The Brownsville Federal Building and Courthouse is a three-story structure. The building includes a basement with secured parking, a third floor mezzanine, central plant and surface parking. The building is located in Brownsville, Texas and was completed in 1999.
This beautifully built building has many Texas specific accents to set it apart. The building has a brick veneer exterior and the seven columns in front of the building have Texas limestone Cordova shell cladding. The area around the main entrance doors has Texas limestone Cordova cream accent. Texas Pink granite cladding was used on the base of building, two water fountains, the handicap ramps and retaining walls in civic plaza in front of the building. To help bring natural light into the building, the atrium and four courtrooms on the third floor have sky lights.
